"There's nothing that happens in the future that is not built on the foundation of the past."
Pastor’s Letter
Dear Church Family,
The Lord began Faith Baptist Church nearly fifty years ago. The founding families shared a commitment to God's Word and a vision to reach this community for Christ. Christ has commissioned us to "make disciples" (Matthew 28:18-20) who know Him, become more like Him and introduce others to Him (Matthew 4:19).
We are continuing our faith journey as a church family by taking the next step of expanding and renovating our facility. However, this step of faith is not about buildings. We are "Building for the Vision." I believe God's vision for Faith is to equip the next generation of believers in the Capital region by making 300 new disciples over the next five years and then launch a new church!
The building is not the end but a means to the end of growing in our relationship with Christ by unifying the church family, developing godly leaders, sharing the Gospel with our community, and reaching the next generation for Christ.
My wife, Rhonda, and I are excited about being here at Faith. We count it a privilege to be part of this church family. I believe God has brought our lives together with you to serve "for such a time as this" (Esther 4:14).
When I think about God's goodness to us in the past, I am filled with gratitude. When I think about what God wants to do for us and through us, I am filled with anticipation.
This Faith Journey provides us with opportunities to serve, to share the Good News of Christ, and to give to God's work. The giving will be a faith promise that will be a promise to God trusting in God's provision to accomplish His work. This will not be a human effort! God's Word is clear: "So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase" (1 Corinthians 3:7).
Please prayerfully join us in this Faith Journey.
In Christ's service,
Pastor Peter
The Mission and the Vision
Faith is about following Christ who is changing my life and will change your life, too.
As we look forward to the new year of ministry we are seeking the Lord's next step for serving Him and reaching our community with the Gospel. In moving forward, we have been asking key questions to discern God's will.
Why does the Lord have us here?
The Mission is to make disciples.
Christ has commissioned us to "make disciples" (Matthew 28:18-20) who know Him, become more like Him, and introduce others to Him (Matthew 4:19).
What are God's future plans for us?
The Vision
We believe God's vision for Faith is to equip the next generation of believers in the Northwest area of the Capital Region by making 300 new disciples over the next five years and then launch a new church of 150 or more!
The measurement of this vision is 300 new active members over the next five years expressed in growing from our present worship service attendance of 500 to 800.
This will not be accomplished by human efforts! God's Word is clear: "So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase" (1 Cor. 3:7).
How does God want to accomplish this vision?
The Seven-fold Plan
• Build relationships with unbelievers to share Christ;
• Enfold new people into the church family by adding small groups;
• Multiply leaders through mentoring relationships;
• Organize structures and add staffing to oversee the growing ministry;
• Expand the facility to effectively serve this growing community;
• Partner with local and global church-based missions to make disciples; and
• Launch a new church!
Priorities for the Vision
We have a decision to make.
Build for the past
Building for the past would correct our narrow hallway and renovate our present bathrooms.
Build for the present
Building for the present would add a nursery suite to enable young families to care for their children.
Build for the future vision
Building for the future would expand our children's ministry area and unify our administrative offices area.
We believe God is calling us to build for the vision.
Vision Priorities
Nurseries
A modern suite of four larger nurseries; provide bathrooms, check-in area and security.
Children’s space
Larger classrooms K-4th grade; near nurseries, flexible space for multi-use and A/V ready.
Open flow
Open up lobby, improve traffic patterns, widen hallways and install elevator to each floor.
Bathrooms
Add new modern restrooms, relocate, update existing rooms, provide for accessibility and
add baby changing facilities.
Unified administration
Place offices together for better teamwork and create work center.
Renovations
Address Sanctuary needs, increase overall storage, replace old carpets and lobby redesign.
Accessibility
New ramp to gym, elevator to each floor, bathrooms and space for wheel chairs in Sanctuary.
